SEMINARS & SOCIALS

At HudsonAlpha, we leverage a unique combination of research, education, and commercialization to anchor of the bioscience sector in Huntsville. These three mission areas drive the Institute’s culture of connection, collaboration, and capitalization, and are easily earmarked in our regular seminars, socials, meetups, and events such as:

Associate Company Lunch: a monthly meeting for company executives located on HudsonAlpha’s campus with opportunities to hear from commercialization experts and business strategy speakers.

Science on Tap: a quarterly casual meet-up between HudsonAlpha’s research labs and entrepreneurs in our ecosystem, featuring a rotating lineup of local craft beer, pizza and an opportunity to learn about new scientific findings and technologies.

HudsonAlpha is home to a community of like-minded innovators from 50 life science companies. At HudsonAlpha, we demonstrate how working together results in rapid translation of discoveries to market. The researchers and associate companies at HudsonAlpha share meeting rooms and common spaces, IT support, a library, and a café. We foster a culture that invites mentor-protegé relationships and drives innovation forward.

Local Connectivity

Fostering growth in the biotech industry is a priority for the state of Alabama and for many of our regional economic development organizations. The Institute partners with local, state, and national economic developers, site selectors, and government agencies to support the development of HudsonAlpha’s Biotech campus as a premium life sciences destination. In addition to fostering bio-entrepreneurship, we work with partners to strengthen policies and incentives for life science industry recruitment. Collectively, HudsonAlpha’s strategic partners help to promote the growth of a synergistic cluster of biotechnology talent, including both science and business professionals.

At HudsonAlpha we believe there isn’t a “One Size Fits All” when it comes to biotech businesses. That’s why we have flexible space options ranging from one desk or lab bench to full office suites and lab spaces to entire buildings. CEO/Founder Mentoring

HudsonAlpha Navigate is a business mentorship program for entrepreneurs at the Institute who want to sharpen their business plan, enhance their management skills, and receive confidential, unbiased advice on their business’ strategy. Modeled after MIT’s Venture Mentoring Service, Navigate assembles volunteer mentors from a variety of organizations who are passionate about transferring valuable knowledge to entrepreneurs in North Alabama and pairs them with you and your business.

ACCESS TO CAPITAL

To cultivate the entrepreneurship ecosystem on campus, HudsonAlpha helps to connect companies with seed, angel, and venture capital. Before you pitch to investors, we can help refine your presentation, find answers to the tough questions, and identify and connect you with the right people. With access to resources like Pitchbook and connections around the country, HudsonAlpha can help you strike when the iron is hot.

Grant Support

While HudsonAlpha itself does not invest directly in associate companies, we ensure companies have access to grant writing support and a network of on-campus peers who have been successful in securing SBIR/STTR funds from the HHS, NSF, NASA, DOD and DOE. This support can help polish your proposal, giving you the best chance at success.
