Education:

I saw the value of being here, and not just pursuing a career for the sake of pursuing a career. I kind of fell in love with Huntsville and with HudsonAlpha’s biotech ecosystem. I have ideas that matter! It’s incredible to have a voice and people who say, ‘We will listen.’

Abbie Ruesy serves as the Economic Development Marketing Coordinator at HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology. She focuses on communicating the institute’s mission to various audiences and works closely with the rest of the team to implement strategies that encourage the campus’s growth and innovation on various projects.

Her marketing and communications efforts extend to both internal and external audiences. For the campus, Abbie oversees marketing and communications to the associate companies of campus programs, local support resources, and news coming out of the ecosystem. Externally, Abbie helps share stories coming out of the Institute, advertises space availability to life sciences companies looking to find labs or offices, and connects the Institute’s economic development impact to audiences around the state and region.

Abbie is a member of the North Alabama chapter of the Public Relations Council of Alabama and will serve on the board as the VP of Students in 2025.

Prior to joining the economic development team, Abbie interned as an economic development associate with HudsonAlpha’s BioTrain Program.

Abbie graduated from the University of Alabama with a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology in Fall 202 and a Master of Business Administration in Spring 2021 through the STEM Path to the MBA program.
